A Saturday at the farm

Okay so today was a big day out for us. Ben is still out of town and I dont usually plan big days out when he's gone. It's just really hard to take the kids to something with out getting seriously stressed out and messing up the whole day. I have always been annoyed by those parents that put all this work into taking their kids some place special and then yelling at them the whole time. But the kids were starting to get a bit antsy around the house since they were out of school of friday. Thankfully Katie was willing to go with us, which was a HUGE help and made the kids much easier to keep the kids rounded up. So we all headed out this morning for Sequim to the Olympic Game Farm. Ben doesnt like it much and granted its not very fancy, but you can buy old bread at the gate. Then you just drive thru and hand out the bread. I actually have slobber all over the windows of my SUV. The kids loved getting to feed the animals and getting to ride in the car not in their carseats. (I'm not sure which was more exciting) 

It was such a fun day and I'm so glad I talk myself out of going.

Lights on, lights off. Laney has learned the art of the flip-over. You know the flip-over, if you can flip it over and stand on it you can reach so much more stuff. Laney is standing on everything from baskets to buckets to kids chairs. All day long its lights on lights off and its even more fun if you need that light on. 

This is Carolina in her breathright strip. She reminds me before bed that she sleeps so much better with one on. I think its hillarious and makes for some great pics!

I've said it before and I'll say it again. Dressing Laney is like catching and dressing a spider. If she can be naked she will be naked. It only takes a moment of indecision for her to make her escape. 

So when Ben is gone things go a bit differently around here. Meaning as long as the kids are happy and I'm pretty sure that whatever it is they are doing wont end in me taking them to the ER, its a green light. It usually ends in a much bigger mess but it gives me a few minutes here or there to oh I dont know eat something, go to the restroom or maybe even just not have all three of them yelling Mom all at once is so worth it. This is Laney feeding herself yogurt and making a holy mess of it. But she was happy and I got to drink a whole hot cup of coffee. 

" I can do this myself Mom!"

George has decided that he no longer wants to take baths. Laney on the other hand would live in the bathtub. Look how excited she is!

Mommy I need medicine...

I here this quite abit around here. There is always some reason why my kids think they need medicine or a bandaid. Today it was Carolina that decided that her cough "fake cough" was getting to bad and needed something for it. This is how the conversation went. Carolina: (cough, cough)Mom I need some cough medicine. Mom: If your cough it really that bad then we will have to go to the doctor and get you a shot in the butt. Carolina: Mom, coughs dont come from your butt!

Quarantine

This nasty stomach stuff has really taken hold around here. Ben had it by Tuesday morning and was pretty much knocked out for the whole day. Thank goodness his planned trip out to sea was delayed by a day (for other reasons having nothing at all to do with Ben's yucky tummy) and he was able to spend the day in bed. So whether he felt like it our not, he was off to the boat at 5am this morning. Which was right about the same time George woke me up crying that he has thrown up on his whoopsy. So I got him up and did all the usual "lets get this cleaned up asap so mommy can get you back in bed before you're to awake to get back to sleep" clean up, got in back in bed and even managed to convince him that he could in deed sleep without a whoopsy. Then I jumped right back in bed hoping for at least two more hours, but it was not to be. About 5 minutes later I heard the same cry. This time I didn't even remake his bed, thinking I would be stripping it again, I threw down an old blanket and put a sheet over it, changed his clothes again and stuck in back in bed with a quick "Yes George I promise you can sleep without whoopsy". Well that worked and I didn't hear anything else out of him, poor baby. He is the fourth out of the five of us to get sick and since the only one left is me and Ben is out to sea, I hope at the very least I can make it till the kids are in bed. I can feel my tummy is not happy, but I dont quite feel sick yet. I'm hoping with a little mommy sheer will I can keep it at bay for 2 hours and 25 minutes more. Pray for me! 

I guess if I was looking on the bright side I haven't been puked on this time!

Not Me! Monday!

Welcome to Not Me! Monday! This blog carnival was created by MckMama. You can head over to her blog to read what she and everyone else have not been doing this week.

Today I will not be relaxing to the beautiful silence that is three kids taking naps. My sweet little angels have been in there for over an hour already and they are still going strong. Oh well at least they are playing semi quietly.

Also today I will not be finishing my taxes! Which for those of you who know me best IS DRIVING ME CRAZY!!!! I look forward to doing taxes every January (I know even I think that's totally weird) and having them done asap. Well this I have everything done except some info on our IRA's (thank goodness for online paperwork) and my husband doesnt seem to feel as compelled to to get done in as much as a timely manner as I do! Ugh... husbands!

A quiet Sunday... I think not!

You know how you make all these plans for a day? You fill it chalk full of activities to keep the kids busy and take any visiting guests to all the places you want to pack in while their in town. Well thats not what yesterday was supposed to be. It was planned to be the very opposite of that. The kids "sweetie" (Ben's mom) is in town and we were all going to just have a nice simple Sunday at home. Maybe not even get out of our jammies. That was until Carolina started puking and puking and puking. Good Lord who knew such a small child could hold so much. She seriously couldn't keep ANYTHING down and I started to worry a bit. But true to Carolina form she didn't even act like it was that big of a deal and she was completely back to normal this morning. It was pretty much like it had never happened. Heck she even made it into the bathroom every time. I really couldn't have asked for a better behaved sick kid. 

Of course now that I've gushed about how easy she was to take care of it will make the rounds of the house and the other two wont be quite as laid back I'm sure. Oh I so just jinxed myself!

A crazy year is coming!

Okay, so it official the Martin's are getting out of the Navy! How crazy is that? We have a few more months before we will actually starting doing anything big to get ready for it, but Ben will start working on his FIRST resume over the next month. Then in May we are planning on putting the house up for sale. We would like to have me and the kids in TX in time for the kids to start school down there, but that is all relying on the fact that the job Ben finds is in deed in TX. We're super excited about heading down this new path in life and hoping God will keep reassuring us that we are doing the right thing. So far he has made it one of our easier decisions and we are grateful. The kids talk about TX all the time and cant wait to be able to just go over to Sweetie and Pop's house. We cant wait to be back in the place we have always felt like we belong. Here are a couple pics from our last trip.

The kids loved fishing at this pond. They caught fish after fish for about a good half hour!

Another online adventure

Okay, here I go trying some other way to get our family photos and info out there. I know, I know I had the old reliable website for so long and now I cant seem to settle on anything, but to be honest being on shutterfly was kinda making me feel like our photos were out there for anybody to see. I dont know if this is much better. But it is easier to update and shouldnt be as much work. I like the idea of adding stuff about our everyday life instead of one big update every couple of months. The kids are just changing so much everyday. I hope you like it!
